Chef Chad has been in the food service industry for more than eighteen years. His journey in the culinary field began after he was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes and spent a month in the hospital on what he calls an “unplanned vacation”. His search for better quality food led him to purchase one of the first organic restaurants in Miami’s Design District, The “A” Miami Café. Chef was awarded numerous accolades, including, the 33 Emerging Creative Minds of Miami Award at Art Basel 2010, Washington Post “Must Visit” in Miami and the Best Natural Food Award by New Times Magazine. After completing a bike tour around the State of Florida, Chef realized how many communities were suffering because of food inequality and founded Bring Organics Back as an answer to the issues he witnessed. He has been personal chef to a number of celebrities and also had the honor of feeding President Barack & Michelle Obama. He is a regularly featured Chef at the coveted Food Network/ Cooking Channel South Beach Wine and Food Festival every year.

Chef's companies, Refresh Live and Chef Kulture, are dedicated to providing Garden-to-Table, healthy lifestyle community education and mentoring other food service professionals towards the same goal. His work is hyper-focused on “Nourishing the Soul of the Community" and he spends his time travelling, with his wife, around South Florida implementing innovative programs that teach soft skills and providing consultation for those in or entering the world of entrepreneurship. Chef Chad is a 2017 BMe Community Fellow, 2017 Red Bull Amaphiko Fellow, Alumni & Events Chair for NLC-Broward and Co-Chair for the NLC Black Caucus. He is co-author along with his wife, Karen, of their new book “Beauty And Her Chef.”

Describe your cooking experience: I pretty much chef most cuisines, currently loving fusion food. My goal is to create the perfect dish and that often requires borrowing from a diverse set of flavors.
